Goderich Lions Service Awards
Every year at our Annual Appreciation Dinner the Goderich Lions Club present service awards to the Lions who most exemplify the true meaning of Lionism.
the 2016 Melvin Jones Fellowship AwardS
Lion President, Bob Robson and Lion John Grace present Delbert (Deb) Shewfelt with his Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. As former Goderich Mayor, Deb was untiring with his work as a community leader. Deb served as Councillor, Reeve and Mayorfor over 28 years. He was a Huron county Councillor for 18 years, and Warden in 2008. The results of Deb’s leadership are visible throughout our Town through things like Doctor Recruitment, the Maitland Recreation Centre, the Maitland Valley Medical Centre and the recovery after the 2011 Tornado. These were a few of the many reasons why Deb was chosen for this award!
Lion President Bob Robson and Lion Don Edward present Lion George Vanderburgh with his Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Lion Georgewas honoured for his untiring hard work over the past 16 years as a member of the Goderich Lions club. He is a past president of the Goderich Lions Club (2007-08) and has been on numerous committees. His contribution to the organization of the Taste of Goderich each year, and in particular this year was amazing! The club cleared over $24,000 that evening. George is the type of Lion that we all want on our team, because he never disappoints those who depend on him! When accepting the award, George expressed a big “Thanks” to the several Lions who assisted him in the organization and running of the Taste of Goderich each year, and for this honour they have given him.

Melvin Jones Fellowship Award
Lion Ken Hunter receiving the Melvin Jones Fellow award in April 2015 from Lion President Jim Crow. Ken has always been a real workhorse for the Goderich Lions Club in many functions and has been the driving force for the upkeep of our Goderich Lions Gardens and with the Communities in Bloom Commitee for the Town of Goderich.
LCI Life Membership 2015
The Goderich Lions Club honoured Lion George Sager with a LCI Life Membership. Lion George is presented with his award by Lion President Jim Crow.
