GODERICH DISASTER RELIEF FUND

The Goderich Lions Club are pleased to announce that through donations from the public, fund raising activities, and donations from other Lions Clubs brought in over $207,000 for the Disaster Relief Fund.

For every $ raised for this fund, the government will match on a 2 to 1 basis.

Note: The Lions will consider requests for assisting for low income individuals for costs not covered by the

Disaster Relief Fund or other government programs, through our normal community help programs. Send your request for such assistance to the Club at the above address.

Lions Taste of Goderich will not be held in 2012 due to so many other fund raising events being held to raise funds to the Goderich Disaster Relief Fund

Need help with out of town medical appointments? If you are in need of transportation, and are of low income, and have no other affordable means of getting to an out of town medical appointment, contact Heath Chairman, Lion Scott at 519-524-5718 or 519-524-8376.

Eye Glasses & Hearing Aids: Goderich Lions Club collects Eye Glasses & Hearing Aids for recycling through Medical Ministries International, who repair and distribute to 3rd World Countries. Eye glasses or hearing aids may be dropped off at Banter MacEwan Feagan Insurance Brokers Ltd. at 50 South Street, Goderich or given to any Lion member.

37th Annual Beef BBQ at Lions Harbour Park - July 4, 2010. (See AD) Advance tickets $11.00 - at the door $12.00, Children $6.00. Tickets are available from any Lions member, or at M&M Meats; Tourist Bureau; Sweets & Memories; Pupil's Purchase; Art's Landscaping. In case of rain, the BBQ will be moved to the Memorial Arena on McDonald Street.

Lions Annual Zehrs Grocery Draw fund raiser.

Goderich Lions hold a 'Bike Auction' each year, usually in May, in conjunction with the local OPP. These bikes and other articles are unclaimed items found by the OPP and collected by Lion volunteers. The funds raised by the auction go to the Easter Seals Association to help disabled children. The auction raised $1,839 in 2009.

Goderich Lions contributed $250,000 to the Mind & Body campaign (Maitland Recreation Centre - YMCA).

Goderich Lions contributed $100,000 to the Maitland Medical Centre.

Goderich Lions contributed $100,000 towards the building of new washrooms and upgrades at Lions Harbour Park.

Club helps maintain and improve the Lions Harbour Park.

Club is a strong supporter of the MacKay Seniors Centre.

Other areas the funds raised by the Club go to support:

Boys & Girls minor sports groups

Handicapped Children

School Scholarships

Free Public Skating during winter months

Seaforth Girls Band

Big Brothers and Sisters

Programs for Seniors

Assist low income seniors with medical aids and out of town Dr. visits
