Our Mandate

  • Provide a financial solution to address temporary service and support gaps experienced by Huron County newcomers within their first 18 months in Canada

  • Coordinate with other support services to avoid duplication

Parameters

  • The committee can award up to $1,500 per individual for the 18 months period (up to 5 separate applications), with a majority vote from the committee

  • In exceptional circumstances, additional grants may be awarded should sufficient need be demonstrated and requested funds be available

  • The amount of grants awarded will be dependent on the availability of the money in the fund. The fund is comprised of charitable donations made to the Goderich Lions Club for this purpose

  • No Goderich Lions Club member may be eligible to access funding

j. Funeral Costs/Expenses

k. Transportation Expenses for Appointments (ie: Medical, dental, work interviews, employment counselling, English classes/tutoring expenses)

l. Prescriptions

m. Hearing examinations/hearing aides

n. Mental Health/Counseling/Social Workers Services

o. Car Repairs

p. Education/Technological assisted devices
